World War One

So heroic was our fight, So glorious was our rivalry
For years we struggled, Day and night
Ammo was limited as we passed it around
Shadowy figures faded in and out
As the darkness rolls in covering the ground
Spirits run dry and bayonets are drawn all down the line
With midnight approaching the whistles are blown
Up and over we go into the unkown
With a loud blow the MG's are fired
My brothers rush forward, Being shot down
This is my life, In the mud and the muck
The Trenches are filled with bodies, I have seen more than enough
As i rushed forward, I was violetly struck down
The lead hit my body and suddenly I was covered in blood
My soul now wonders these long lost feilds
Glory has now faded, And this land has now healed
Our struggles have been forgotten, And our sacrifices go unknown
My brothers bodies are now marked by a simple stone
I died for my country
So wonderful indeed
My struggles have now faded, In fields now so green.
